DRESS CODE

Dress Code – Board Rule 6Gx13- 5C-1.031

Students are expected to come to school with proper attention having been given to personal cleanliness, grooming, and neatness of dress. Students whose personal attire or grooming distracts the attention of other students or teachers from their school work shall be required to make the necessary alterations to such attire or grooming before entering the classroom or be sent home by the principal to be properly prepared for school. Students who fail to meet the minimum acceptable standards of cleanliness and neatness as determined by the principal and as specified in this rule shall be subject to appropriate disciplinary measures.

Uniform Policy

Corporate Academy North Business and Entrepreneurship is a mandatory uniform school. The uniform consists of white or gold polo shirt with the school logo and khaki pants/skirts. All students will wear their shirts tucked in with a belt. Students are expected to wear appropriate school attire so as not to detract from the learning environment. The Corporate Academy dress code is as follows:

    • ID badges are part of the dress code and must be worn at all times
    • No hats, caps, sweatbands, visors, bandanas, stocking caps, do-rags, or head scarves
    • All dresses, shorts, skorts or skirts must be longer than middle fingertip length
    • No flip-Flops, bedroom slippers, metal cleats, taps on shoes, or sandals without backstraps (homemade included)
    • No tube tops, see-through blouses without a camisole or whole slip, bare backs. Bare midriffs, sleeveless undershirts, “belly tees,” spaghetti straps, fish net jerseys, halter tops, tank tops, or sleeveless shirts
    • No garments with written messages or pictures or symbols on clothing portraying ideas which are hostile to the health, safety, and welfare of students. Examples are messages which relate to drugs, smoking, alcohol, sex, or profanity
    • Cell phones are permitted on school grounds, but MUST remain off during the school day (7:00 – 2:25)
    • No iPOD’s, MP3 players, beepers, radios, cassette players, or laser pointers are permitted.
    • No non-school related electronic devices or games
    • No sunglasses, tank tops (i.e. tops with cut in shoulders), clothing with offensive logos, bare midriffs, shorts, miniskirts, shoes without backs or straps, pajamas or slippers are not permitted. Skullies are not to worn. Anyone arriving dressed inappropriately will be referred to SCSI. If the uniform dress code violation continues, a conference with student, parent, counselor and administrator will be arranged with disciplinary actions pending.
    • No hooded jackets and sweater.

NOTE: Corporate Academy is not responsible if one of the above mentioned items is lost or stolen.

Cell Phones

Possession of a cellular telephone is not a violation of the Code of Student Conduct (CSC). However, the possession of a cellular telephone which disrupts the educational process; the use of the cellular telephone during school hours; and the possession or use of a cellular telephone which disrupts or interferes with the safety-to-life issue for students being transported on a M-DCPS school bus, would be a violation of the CSC.
