Corporate Academy North is located at 5120 N.W. 24th Avenue. The program has been moved in 1997, 1998 and most recently in 2003, to our present Brownsville campus, the former site of Floral Heights Elementary School.

Corporate Academy North celebrates its first year of transition under secondary school reform into the new Corporate Academy of Business and Entrepreneurship. The school offers a rigorous, college bound curriculum in concert with the relevance of a career focus in small business and entrepreneurship. This change in mission will require several fundamental shifts. Through school specific professional development, faculty and staff will develop skills of collaboration and teamwork in addressing the six core components of Secondary School Reform.

Teachers will move toward new roles as coaches and mentors and students will recognize the value in developing the self-motivated and disciplined work habits characteristic of successful entrepreneurs. Additionally, the master schedule will permit the necessary flexibility for business production workshops, successful business/school partnerships, and internships. Entering ninth graders and eligible tenth graders will have the opportunity to graduate with both a high school diploma and an occupational certificate in business supervision and management.

The school is wired to provide Internet and Intranet access in 100% of the classrooms. The media center is the heart of a school-wide closed circuit television system. CAN has two computer labs to support both our business technology and CISCO Networking programs. Additionally, a computer-driven career lab is set up in the office of our career specialist.

Finally, the solicitation of support and the development of rapport with the surrounding community will become central items of administrative and staff priority. We are committed to the mission of Miami-Dade Public Schools to “…provide the highest quality education so that all of our students are empowered to lead productive and fulfilling lives as lifelong learners and responsible citizens.

We have 36 full-time staff members and one part-time staff member. Of these, three are administrators, 18 are classroom teachers, three are exceptional education teachers, one is a guidance counselor, one is a media specialist, three are classroom paraprofessionals, three are clerical employees, five are security monitors, and three are custodial service workers. Of the teaching staff, 75% have advanced degrees.
